Screenprinting Press Basics/
Studio Orientation
Price: $75
Covers the basics of 1-color garment screenprinting and shop equipment, and includes one shirt to print your design on! Surcharge if a size larger than XL is needed.
Including:
Creating design
You create your design phrase from existing vector file fonts and images on the studio computer (if you have a preexisting design you want printed, contact Art directly to receive a quote)
Applying emulsion
That’s the blue stuff that covers up the holes in the screen that aren’t part of the design.
Burning design on screen
Using a vacuum exposure unit.
Powerwashing screen
In our blackroom that’s off limits during open studios.
Registering screen
Orient and affix it to the press with tightening screws.
Taping screen
Prevents ink transfer on the edges of the screen that are not part of the design, and makes it easier to clean afterwords.
Screenprinting design on shirt
Pick any ink color to print your new design in!
Curing ink
High temperatures that can cause an unpleasant strong plastic smell.
Cleaning screen
Scraping excess ink back into bucket, using press wash to get the rest off, and taking the tape off the screen.

Multi-Screen Registration Workshop

Covers how to print a design using multiple screens, one color each. Includes a shirt for printing -surcharge if a size larger than XL is needed.

Pick any design from the library that is on a screen! (group decision?)
Taping screen

Blockout Screenprinting Workshop
Price: $75
Learn how to paint red screen filler to create a custom design by blocking out where ink can pass through. Includes a shirt for printing -surcharge if a size larger than XL is needed.

Creating design
You create your design by using a brush to apply screen filler that functions as emulsion to cover up the holes in the screen that aren’t part of the design you want to print.
Registering screen
Orient and affix it to the press with tightening screws.
Taping screen
Prevents ink transfer on the edges of the screen that are not part of the design, and makes it easier to clean afterwords.

Covers how to print a design with a gradient using multiple inks. Includes a shirt for printing -surcharge if a size larger than XL is needed.

Pick any 2-5 ink colors to print with! You will get to learn the method of how to apply and work with the inks so they stay straight, don’t blur together quickly, and keep even ratios.
Color choices may need to be a group decision depending on class size.
